The Britannia Country House Hotel.

When we flew from Manchester airport for 2 weeks in October, we were faced with having to leave early morning from our Lincolnshire home and risk all the stress of getting stuck on the busy and snarled up motorways as we did the last time, or stay overnight in a Hotel and arrive at the airport refreshed. Last time we parked with Airparks who were excellent, but even though they took us to the airport immediately, we were later than we should be for the check in.

So this time, once more through Airparks we booked a night at the excellent  Britannia Country House Hotel. It is located in the Didsbury area of Manchester and quietly located in its own grounds, yet only 5 minutes from the motorway network, and is only 3 miles from Manchester International Airport. It took a little finding as I didn’t have a sat nav at the time, but it was relatively easy to find from the on site instructions. We booked a package that covered us both for the hotel for the night, dinner and breakfast and free bussing to and from the airport and I must say it was a very reasonable price and well worth paying the extra over just the cost of the parking.

After arriving we went to reception and were told which areas to park in. The car park was almost full, but we managed to find a safe space. We had been told though that we may have to park in a remote location away from the hotel, so we were delighted after a 3 hour plus drive to find the space.

The spacious hotel Reception area opens up onto the Lounge and Hotel Bar, providing a warm, friendly atmosphere.  The Country House Hotel Manchester is decorated throughout in a traditional style, and has plenty of character. Our bedroom was comfortable and tastefully furnished with modern facilities including TV, Hairdryer, Telephone, and Tea & Coffee making facilities. It was spotlessly clean, although there was evidence that previous occupants had not treat the decoration and furnishings with the same respect as we did.

The Britannia Country House Hotel Manchester features Fridays Nightclub & Bar, a favourite for Manchester locals and guests where you can relax and party in a great atmosphere and Jenny’s restaurant which is a brasserie style dining experience with an a la carte menu to Chef's daily specials. As we were part of a package, we selected food from a large area which had an array of excellent and tasty foods which ranged from salads to curries and we could have gone back as many times as we wished. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and helpful as were the staff in the bar and on reception and they made us feel we had been treat with kindness and respect.

The Hotel also accommodates a Spindles Health and Leisure Club, with facilities including a Gym, Spa, Sauna and Indoor Heated Pool.
If you are not flying the hotel is within easy reach of Manchester City Centre, The Trafford Centre, Manchester United football club and Lancashire County cricket club. Situated in Didsbury, close to Manchester University and Manchester Metropolitan University, the hotel also offers easy access to the many attractions of the Cheshire countryside such as Jodrell Bank Science Park and the many National Trust properties in the area. www.britanniahotels.com
